Short Stack Tour

This Is Bat Country Tour - July 3rd 2011
Support: Because They Can and Heroes For Hire

I have seen Short Stack nine times now, and basically followed them from the beginning, and let me say, this band gets better and better each time. My expectation were high for this concert as the previous time I had seen them (at Rod Laver Arena) they were better than they have ever been!
This band used to be a little band from Budgewoi who could only sell 300 tickets to a concert just two years ago, and not they are selling out 3000 tickets. This band has shot to fame, and I am proud to say that I was there at the beginning.
Although I have been to almost all Short Stack gigs with one particular friend, she also agrees that they have greatly improved on what they started out as. This is one of the few bands that I could still continue to see and never get sick of them, watching them grow has been amazing. I have never experienced this with any other young band from Australia. Most of them fall as fast as they rose.
Going to a Short Stack gig used to be a fun experience with a very high chance of meeting them afterwards. This meeting them afterwards is not proving near impossible. They have the craziest fans I have ever come across! These girls attack these three males like they are the last ones on Earth; what these girls don't realise is that they are just normal people... In a successful band. Blood running through their veins. Normal.

Vocals: as I said previously, this band is just amazing live! The vocals of Shaun are spectacular! His voice is so strong and is able to sing at the right volume with the music and not scream down the microphone like many artists do. His voice is just amazing live, I could see this band live over and over again and never get sick of them.
Costumes: the dress sense of this band has changed enormously! They have gone from black skinny leg jeans with cons and a standard t-shirt. This band now is able to remain in their black skinny leg jeans with smart button down shirts and a suit jacket with a tie and black leather shoes. Towards the end of the show they do prefer to change their button down shirt for a simple t-shirt - which is usually from their own clothing line (a great way of promotion).
Stage: Short Stack have no special, crazy stage. They have a simple rectangular stage with banners up the back with Maurice on one and two others, one saying 'Short' and the other reading 'Stack'. Bradie's drum-kit is situated in the back centre raised on a platform. Andy and Shaun are on either side of the stage however move around throughout the show.
Dancing: this band doesn't dance. However, Andy does a little spinny thing, and it was good to see he did not fall off of the stage this time!
Set list: Short Stack played all their singles and their best songs of both albums. Shaun did an acoustic medley of three songs. All of which happen to be my three favourite songs off their albums. Most amazing medley I have ever heard. I loved it! It was also really good to see them perform Werewolves, a song which I have loved since it was a bonus track on iTunes off Stack Is The New Black.
Crowd interaction: one of the things I love about this band! They always talk and communicate with the audience and involve them as much as possible. They ask questions, talk, and many others. Including rude yet entertaining gestures. It is obvious it is unscripted, however it all comes very naturally to this well spoken group of boys!

A little extra: Bradie's drum solo. Oh my goodness!! The thing I love most about seeing this band perform is Bradie's drum solos! He is one of the most amazing drummers I have ever seen perform! I love his solos.

Support acts: both of these bands I had heard of before. Because They Can played a very good set, and although they slightly resembled The Beatles, they were just amazing! I do recommend this band, so go check them out on Facebook! Heroes For Hire are a band that I have heard a lot about, mostly through Short Stack, so I expected good things! This band were awesome! They were full of energy and heaps of fun. Also go check this band out on Facebook!

Overall I rate this concert five stars out of five - I love this band!

I have no more concert tickets at the moment however am considering backtracking to some concerts I have not very reviewed.

Peace
