Miley Cyrus Tour

The Gypsy Heart Tour - June 23rd 2011
Support: Michael Paynter

Miley Cyrus was the last person that I had on my list of people to see. I had wanted to see her since back in her Hannah Montana days when my friends and I were obsessed with See You Again. From watching her concert DVD I knew this should would be amazing and she would dance a lot. Miley performed on stage for just over an hour and a half.
I hadn't heard much about this tour as it was not a big world tour, just a small tour outside of America. Therefore was unaware of mostly what to expect! It was obvious that she would have very little costume on - and she did!! She played just one Hannah Montana song (she did not tour as Hannah) and the rest were her more recent songs.
Going to this concert made me feel very old! The majority of the crowd was little squealing girls. This was not enjoyable to have them screaming into my ears! Not good at all.
It was an added bonus to be able to meet Michael Paynter (the support act) and also being able to see Liam Hemsworth (who was sitting right near us), he is so hot!!!

Vocals: Miley did not miss a beat on stage. The show was 100% live and she sang every word of it. Her vocals were strong and easily able to be understood and heard over the top of the screaming girls and the music being played. The back up vocalists also had awesome vocals which were as powerful as Miley's were.
Costumes: Miley changed about four or five times throughout the concert. She wore mostly leotards throughout (with no pants) however one of her scenes she did in fact wear pants. Her costumes perhaps could of had a bit more colour - the only one that had a lot of colour was her red finale leotard. Throughout most of the performance she wore knee high boots with a heel.
Stage: Miley's stage was a unique shape. It had four short runways coming out of it, two coming out the front and one coming out of each side of it. At the middle back of her stage she had a number of different height platforms which had her musicians on. Miley herself only used one of the platforms throughout the concert.
Dancing: Miley danced throughout the concert, at times she would join in with her back up dancers in their dances, or just do her own little dance performance. Her back up dancers were amazing, displaying an assortment of different dancing styles and their abilities.
Set list: I personally expected her to play no Hannah Montana songs because she was not touring as Hannah, she did however play one song (See You Again) which all the little girls seemed to really enjoy and sing along to. Her setlist included songs which are mostly off her more recent albums, all of the songs she performed her amazing. She did three covers (one of which was Smells Like Teen Spirit - which she was able to make her own and rather than trying to do an identical cover, she was better off doing it her own way). She also did Every Rose Has Its Thorn which was incredible - my favourite from the concert.
Crowd interaction: Miley chatted with the crowd throughout, however the majority of it sounded fairly scripted and none of which she made up straight on the spot. I thought she would have come across a bit more natural in her crowd interaction and talked maybe a bit more than what she did.

Support act: Michael Paynter support Miley. I have seen him before and knew that he would be good. Although I only knew a few of the songs he performed, he was still worth the getting there early for. His performance included three of singles as well as songs which I had never heard, and one cover. Following his performance I was able to meet him. What I loved about meeting him was that he wasn't rushing through (we were first to meet him) and was there for a chat, and photos. Following this he did @ me on Twitter, which was very nice that he followed through with something that he said!!

Overall I rate this concert four stars out of five - not the best, but up there with them.

My next concert is Short Stack, with Heroes For Hire and Because They Can on July 2nd 2011.

Kylie Minogue Tour

Aphrodite Les Folies Tour - June 14th 2011
Support: Gypsy and the Cat

This concert I had been waiting for ages to see, all I had heard was amazing reviews about it. This concert proved to be so much better than I expected, her costumes, water on the stage and amazing dancers. Kylie came on stage at about 9pm and played for a little longer than two hours. She played many new songs (which I was unfamiliar with) along with her old classic songs which were great to see.
Having seen her before, obviously I was expecting something better than her previous concert tour, and I was not let down!

Vocals: I have heard that Kylie uses auto-tune, however regardless of this she still sings live and never misses a note. Her vocals are incredible and so strong, and is able to sing at the same volume as the music, if not louder. To add to her already strong vocals, there is the back up singers which also have incredible vocals.
Costumes: Kylie's costumes were amazing! All were by Dolce and Gabbana which proved to be awesome! With many sparkles used on them all, with mostly whites, golds and silvers used. During one act, her back up dancers wore very Lady Gaga style costumes. All her costumes suited her well and looked amazing with the entire set!
Stage: Kylie's stage was set up with huge pillars at the back with screens between each one which throughout the concert displayed different images on them. Towards the back of her stage was a raised area which she a lot of the time rose out of on different props or in different extreme costumes. Her stage then had a standard level which had a center piece that rose up out of the stage and tilted forward. The stage then had two runways coming out of it which joined to form a triangle which she did her finale on. Her stage was the most incredible stage I have ever seen at any concert!
Dancing: As expected, Kylie danced throughout most of the show. She has 16 dancers in total which her providing acrobatics and dance routines throughout. There was always something visual happening, mostly dancing but occasionally backing videos or images on the screens around the stage.
Set list: Although I personally was not familiar with all the songs that Kylie played, she was able to perform them with such perfection. The set list included new and old classics. It was the old classic songs which had the crowd up out of their seats and singing along, (I get such a rush out of crowd involvement).
Crowd interaction: Being in Melbourne, which is Kylie's hometown, the crowd was very involved and very loud! Much noise during the show was amazing, with a lot of cheering and screaming and very much an amazing atmosphere!

Support act: I had never heard Gypsy and the Cat's music before although I had heard of the band. Their music was amazing! The vocals of the singer were incredible and really showed the note range that he was able to hit. Although not on stage for very long, they definitely succeeded in warming up the crowd and gaining at least one new fan, I will be continuing the support of this band!

Overall I rate this concert five out of five stars - the entire performance was just incredible!

My next concert is Miley Cyrus with Michael Paynter next week.
